Araumi Daiko, founded by Grete Moortgat in 1999, is the largest and oldest taiko organization in Belgium. Grete Moortgat is therefore widely regarded as the pioneer of taiko in Belgium.
Araumi Daiko aims to spread the joy of life and the powerful energy of taiko. Which is achieved by offering: taiko classes, workshops, masterclasses froms guests, performing with its three performance groups (Taikidoki, Ikezuki Taiko & Feniks Taiko), and organizing projects and concerts in collaboration with other artists.
Since its founding, Araumi Daiko has grown significantly. Today, classes are taught at several locations, and the academy has more than 200 students.
Among the three performance groups, Feniks Taiko is the flagship ensemble. They are considered one of the top three taiko groups in Europe and have already performed on various international stages, and with various artists.
