Good rhythm is the basis for everything else in taiko. Before power, tempo, or choreography even come into play, your internal pulse must be solid, both individually and within the ensemble. That's exactly why we built this small metronome.
You can freely adjust the time signature and note value, from 2/4 to 6/8, from quarter notes to sixteenth notes, and count along using traditional japanese counting: Ichi, Ni, San, Shi. This not only helps you practice the rhythm but also familiarizes you with the counting method you'll encounter in an ensemble.
It's best to use it together with your practice pad. Start slowly, even if it feels too easy; a clean rhythm at a slow tempo is more beneficial than a messy one at a fast tempo. Only increase the tempo once the beat feels truly stable. And if you notice you're relying too much on the click, switch to mute; the metronome will then only continue visually, and you'll quickly realize if your internal rhythm can carry itself.
